He took two dainty steps on the blazing sidewalk before stopping. His paws burned. He gave Jake his best. Are you insane? look.
“Oh, come on, Taco,” Jake chuckled. “The park’s just ahead. A little shade.”

The city roared around them—cars honked, bikes whizzed past, and somewhere, an overly ambitious street musician played the saxophone.
Taco, an elegant creature of indoor luxury, did not belong here. He let his legs buckle.

Moments later, they reached the park, and—oh, blessed shade! Taco scrambled from Jake’s arms, finding a patch of cool grass. Then—oh!—water!
Jake poured fresh, cold water into a dish. Taco lapped it up greedily, ears twitching in delight.
